 A Small Part of a Quilter's Garden

This plant arrangement reminds me of choosing fabrics for a quilt. Start with a focus fabric and pull colors from it. Then  for a little interest, add contrast or go completely off the wall and add a color that's not even in the main fabric. It doesn't have to match just go. If it's eye pleasing, use it. 

I love the orange pumpkin and yellow Rudbeckias (Black Eyed Susan) with the burgundy coleus and Martha Washington  geraniums.
The reddish New Zealand flax adds contrast.

Now that I think of it, I have yellow in more than half of my quilts.

It's kind of a "look at me now" color.
